Sipping on ‘Name of the Wind’ koolaid
What even the fuck is a guild?
The earliest forms of guilds were organized in a manner something between a professional association, trade union, secret society, and a cartel.
There are two traditional definitions:
1. A medieval association of craftsmen or merchants, often having considerable power.
2. An association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal.
Most will tell you that the name you choose for your product or business isn’t the most important aspect of your positioning or marketing.
Yours truly, however, has sipped the ‘Name of the Wind’ kool-aid a few too many times.
To which I quote:
“Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.”
So it is I choose to name my products with great care (and encourage my Email Imagery + Copy & Coffee students to do the same).
Because Names have power, and what you call yourself is often what you come to be. It’s important to ensure you become who and what you want to be.
If you look at the definition of “cartel” below you’ll see the difference between Guild and Cartel:
“An association of manufacturers or suppliers with the purpose of maintaining prices at a high level and restricting competition.”
Yes, the Sorcerers Guild print newsletter is not cheap. Truth be told, I’d be surprised if I ever sell anything for less than $113 (that’s the Lone Loonie principle at work).
No, I do not care about restricting competition. Competition doesn’t phase me because I know that nobody is doing what I’m doing.
The Sorcerers Guild is NOT about breaking rules, caring only for yourself, or trying to slit the throat of your competition.
There’s no value in acting this way.
Rather, the Sorcerers Guild is about bringing improvement-minded folk (you) together, and delivering monthly action steps that you can use to enhance the most impactful areas of your life: relationships, finances, lifestyle, physical and mental health.
Over the past two-and-a-half years I’ve meticulously cast spells, sipped on potions, and bent (not broken) conventional rules to create the exact lifestyle I envisioned.
Now that I have it, and know the path to getting here, I want to show you how you can do the same.
Which means creating a Guild to teach you these powers. Don’t get me wrong—when you start to operate how I teach in the Guild, you WILL realize the power you’re amassing.
As for when the Sorcerers Guild pen & ink newsletter will be launching…the launch is set for exactly four weeks after Email Imagery 2.0 sees the light of day. Once it does, the countdown is on…
